New and Fully Calibrated. Only $659.00 The Mark 3 sextant has revolutionized celestial navigation: Never before has such a high-quality, accurate metal sextant been available at such a low price. Tests by professional navigators produce results that rival those of the most expensive German and Japanese models. This aluminum-alloy instrument at only 2 pounds, 8 ounces (1.13 kg) is easier to use than the traditional 4-pound brass models. The quality of the Stanley London Mark 3 Sextant has been proven in many years of use by ocean-going navigators. It is highly unlikely that any navigator regardless of experience could perform more accurate navigation underway in a small vessel with any other sextant, including those costing $2,400 or more. The sextant's full 50 mm mirrors and shade glass are precisely machined and extensively tested for flatness using the Fresnel diffraction pattern method. Mark 3 Sextants are assembled in a professional modern clean-room environment. The sextant has the look and feel of a fine piece of precision engineering and is built to a very high standard. The Mark 3 sextant's LED lighting of the arc and drum allows for convenient night sights. Two standard AA batteries fit in the sextant's handle (batteries not included), and a convenient thumb switch controls the lighting. The Stanley London Mark 3 Sextant comes complete with a high quality 3.5 x 40 scope. The scope has fully coated optics and a large 40 mm objective lens to yield a sharp 3.5-power non-inverted (upright) image. Most sextants, like our Tamaya Spica Sextant, and our Tamaya Jupiter Sextant require optional $300 - $400 scopes. The sextant comes with a beautiful, high quality hinged hardwood case to store and protect the instrument. The case has a handle, two secure latches, and rubber feet on both the bottom and the back of the case to protect both the sextant, and your fine furnishings. The case can hold the sextant, accessories, and two telescopes. A handsome custom engraved brass plaque can be mounted on the front or the top of the hardwood case. The plaque on the top of the box can have just the recipients name, name and date, or a very long message. We can even engrave graphics including a high quality line drawing of the vessel. The brass plaque on the front can have up to 7 lines of text and up to 15 words per line. The Stanley London Mark 3 Sextant includes high quality sextant oil, an adjusting wrench, a brush, lens cloth, and a Quality Certificate specifying the sextant's +/-20 arcsecond accuracy throughout the arc.
