The Mark 3 Sextant is made in China, where labor rates are considerably lower than in Germany or Japan, but where high quality equipment is available.
Further, the Mark 3 Sextant uses a lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy, just as Freiberger, Tamaya, and C. Plath do in their lightweight sextants.
As a result, there is a very minor sacrifice in potential accuracy (+/- 20 arcseconds throughout the arc, compared with +/- 10 to 12 arcseconds),
which is inconsequential compared to the human error when taking sights from a moving small vessel.
