Brass Sextant including Hardwood Case
This is a beautiful four-inch radius solid brass reproduction of a Titanic lifeboat sextant.
The sextant has four swing-arm filters, and a slow motion control to allow fine adjustment of the index arm.
The index arm is engraved "White Star Line, R.M.S. Titanic" with a serial number.
Only 75 of these limited edition R.M.S. Titanic sextants have been made, and each one has a unique serial number.
The index mirror can be fully adjusted using three brass screws.
A built-in magnifier can be swung into position to assist in reading the German Silver vernier scale.
There is a solid hardwood handle on the back of the sextant.
The telescope has polished glass lenses and can be focused to produce a sharp magnified erect image.
The sextant measures 4 3/4 inches (12.1 cm) tall, 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide, 2 3/4 inches (7.0 cm) deep,
and weighs 1 pound, 3 ounces (530 grams).
The sextant comes with a beautiful velvet lined hardwood storage and display box that
has fitted cut-outs to securely hold the sextant.
The front of the hardwood case has a handle and a unique front rotary clasp.
The joinery on the case are all "Box" or "Finger" joints.
Custom brass plaques are available for the outside of the case,
inside the lid, or both.
The case measures 7 inches (17.8 cm) square and 4 1/8 inches (10.5 cm) tall, and weighs 2 pounds, 5 ounces (1.0 kg).
The outside of the box has a solid brass plaque engraved "RMS Titanic, White Star Line, Nautical Sextant" with the matching serial number.
This reproduction sextant is fully functional but not intended for navigation.
