Bowie Knife with Leather Sheath

In December of 1830, Jim Bowie walked into James Black's shop with a whittled wooden model of the knife he wanted Black to craft.
Four weeks later, Black had made the knife, and also made a second modified version of Bowie's design.
Bowie chose Black's design, which was double-edged along the length of the curve from the point, so the top of the blade was sharpened toward the tip.
The innovation appealed to Bowie, for he could still use most of the thickness of the back of the blade to parry and have an additional sharpened edge for back slashing.
Immediately thereafter, on a return trip to Texas, Bowie was attacked by three men hired to kill him.
Bowie killed all three with his new knife.
This encounter brought immediate fame to the Bowie Knife and to James Black.
From then on, any traveler passing down the Chihuahua Trail would stop at Black's shop and ask for a knife "Like Bowie's."
This is a beautiful maritime version of the famous Bowie Knife with solid brass fittings.
The stainless steel blade and brass fittings will not rust.
The design was used by sailors at sea, and would take into port where firearms were not permitted.
The white handle is made from polished camel bone.
The Marine Bowie's blade is made of quality tempered stainless steel and is 0.19 inches (4.8 mm) thick and 1 3/4 inches (4.45 cm) wide.
This knife is very large and measures 17 inches (43.2 cm) overall and weighs 1 pound 10.3 ounces (0.75 kilograms).
The thick high quality top grain 100% leather sheath weighs 5 ounces (142 grams).
The blade can be custom engraved with one to three lines of text, or artwork.

The blade is shipped unsharpened but can easily be sharpened to a razor sharp edge.
The top edge can be left partially sharpened or fully sharpened for back slashing.
