$128 This sword is a handsome reproduction of the French Model 1831 Artillery Sword, which was used throughout the 19th century. The Neo-classical design of this sword is based on the Roman Gladius sword and was nicknamed the "cabbage-cutter," as it was found to be a very useful tool in addition to its role as a weapon. The French Artillery Sword features a polished solid brass grip and a high carbon steel blade. The highly polished blade is 18 inches (45.7 cm) long and 1 3/4 inches (4.4 cm) wide at the hilt (where the blade and grip meet). The sword is 25 inches (63.5 cm) long overall, and weighs 2 pounds 2 ounces (0.99 kg). We offer custom engraving on the blade of the sword with up to four lines of text. Please specify the desired location and orientation of your personalized text in the special instructions box when ordering. The sword cannot be shipped with a sharpened blade, although you can easily sharpen the blade yourself. Accompanying the sword is a 100 percent genuine leather scabbard complete with brass accents. The scabbard weighs an additional 8 ounces (227 grams). The French Artillery Sword with leather and brass scabbard is available for only $128. We also offer a Naval Sword and Confederate Cavalry Officer's Sword. |
